GOINGGOLDwith the Daniela Conte Foundation this September for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Why We Go GOLD
In 1997, a group of parents of children impacted by cancer chose GOLD to represent childhood cancer. Now, supporters around the world GO GOLD to represent childhood cancer warriors and heroes.
Childhood Cancer by the Numbers
Childhood cancer happens everywhere. Each school day, 47 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, which means more than 17,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed each year. Globally, it is estimated that 400,000+ new cases of cancer affect children each year; however, this number may be vastly underestimated due to large numbers of undiagnosed cases, and 20% of children in the U.S. will not survive it. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in American children, resulting in the death of approximately 1,800 kids each year.
We are encouraging you to swap your regular shoelaces for a pair of gold laces through the month of September. Wearing gold laces is a small yet impactful act that sparks conversations and spreads awareness. Every time you tie your laces, you send a message of hope, love, and encouragement to children battling cancer. 100% of the proceeds from every pair of gold laces sold will go towards providing financial support to local families of children battling cancer.
One of the easiest ways to go GOLD and support childhood cancer is by spreading awareness. Share photos in your gold laces, share childhood cancer facts, and share stories of childhood cancer families. Together, we can raise awareness and rally support in the fight against childhood cancer.

Whether you participate as an individual, with your team, or with your school, you can really help make a difference for children fighting cancer. Create your own page or team, share why you're going GOLD, and ignite a spark in your community. You'll be amazed by the support and generosity around you and the impact you can make.
Your fundraiser has the power to help them with their rent or mortgage, car payments, utility bills, transportation to and from hospital visits, or groceries. Your efforts could make a huge difference to another family.
The Daniela Conte Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in memory of 8-year-old Daniela Conte. Daniela was diagnosed Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) in October of 2016. She eventually lost her battle after four years of fighting in March of 2020. The courage she displayed throughout her treatment inspired the start of DCF. Our mission is to provide financial assistance, raise awareness, and fund research to help kids fighting cancer.
